Service Writer/Title Clerk

This dual-role position is responsible for managing rental service intake, customer interactions, and coordinating repair needs, while also handling vehicle title and registration paperwork with accuracy and timeliness. United Rentals is known for providing reliable service and maintaining a high-performing fleet. We're seeking a detail-driven Automotive Rental Service Writer & Title Clerk to help us deliver on our customers' promise while keeping our back-office documentation and fleet compliance on track. This hybrid role bridges two essential functions: managing customer service and scheduling for our rental fleet, and processing vehicle title and registration documents for our commercial and utility vehicles. You will play a key role in customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Service Writer Duties:

  • Manage Due for Service reports for commercial and utility fleet vehicles, including routine maintenance, DOT, dielectric testing, and annual inspections
  • Coordinate rental fleet maintenance and repair schedules with customers; assist in appointment scheduling and locating mobile repair or service centers
  • Assist in managing recall campaigns across the fleet
  • Handle initial maintenance customer calls; troubleshoot issues and coordinate effective solutions
  • Maintain accurate rental records and update system data regularly
  • Conduct pre- and post-rental vehicle inspections, document vehicle condition and report findings

Title Clerk Duties:

  • Process all vehicle title and registration paperwork for new, used, and rental fleet vehicles
  • Ensure compliance with state and local title regulations and DMV requirements
  • Prepare and submit documentation for title transfers, lien releases, and registration renewals
  • Maintain accurate records of all titles and vehicle ownership documents
  • Track titles in transit and follow up with dealerships or DMV offices as needed
  • Manage title audits and support internal or external reviews

Qualifications:

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Title Clerk experience is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
  • Highly organized & ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Must work well in a team environment and have good communication skills
