Department Overview

Good Samaritan Society – Ellsworth is a 43-bed skilled nursing facility focused on long-term care, located in the serene Smokey Hills of central Kansas.

  • Part-Time: 48 hours per bi-weekly pay period
  • Day Shift: 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Rotating Weekends and Holidays
  • Licensure: Must be a Registered Nurse in Kansas
Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in delivering personalized nursing care to residents by employing the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This position involves collaboration with residents, their families, and interdisciplinary team members, including healthcare providers, to ensure comprehensive care planning and execution.

The RN is expected to demonstrate proficiency and operate within the full spectrum of nursing knowledge, adhering to age-specific and population-specific standards relevant to their clinical environment. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing care across all stages of preventive health, maintenance, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Coordinating resident care, conducting assessments, educating residents, and performing various nursing interventions.
  • Possibly serving as a charge nurse, delegating appropriate tasks to both licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel, ensuring they align with job descriptions, skills, and resident care needs.
  • Offering support to delegates to guarantee safe and effective resident care and addressing any care-related concerns.

The RN must operate within the guidelines of the Nurse Practice Act and relevant Administrative Rules of the state, recognizing the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses as established by the American Nurses Association.

Qualifications
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program is preferred, including institutions recognized by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), or the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in nursing is preferred.
  • Must possess an unencumbered RN license from the State Board of Nursing in the state of practice, or hold multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
  • Must obtain and maintain necessary department-specific competencies and certifications.
