About Cohorts

Cohorts is a community of real estate private equity founders and operators. We have Members throughout the US and Canada.

We want to help our Members build lasting real estate companies and lifelong relationships.

We do this with small Cohorts of operators, masterclasses, and in-person events.

We're growing quickly and intend to be the #1 community worldwide for real estate folks.

We will work daily in person in our OTR, Cincinnati, offices. We are open to remote hires in NYC.

You will organize and write all of our GP Letters. These are primarily interviews with General Partners around the US, capturing their projects, and writing A+ pieces about them, the companies they are building, and their properties. You will set the tone, style, journalistic standards, and direction for a "baby-Bloomberg" type publication from the ground up.

Most real estate writing today is highly financial and focused on debt, equity, refinances, parcels, and transactions. We see a huge opportunity to write the human + design + business stories of the people and projects, in a way that does not exist in the world right now. In time, we'd like to publish a handsome quarterly print magazine, and you would lead that effort, too.

This job is full-time, salaried, and in-person (either in Cincinnati, Ohio or New York City).

What You'll Do

(80%) - Travel to, interview, and write A+ quality pieces ("Letters") about General Partners and their projects throughout the country.

write

Examples of Letters you could write:

  • Gen-Z Enters The Chat - Meet the 3 developers under 25 shaking up real estate... - Zach Molzer and folks re-developing Kansas City.
  • Antonio Botero's Bid to Remake Manhattan - interview + article with Antonia as she raises her first fund and builds condos in NYC.
  • So What do You Do with 200 Acres in Montana? - Zach Ware's plan to re-build a mountain town...

We will work together on what pieces, and how to contact the folks, but you will take over the interview, writing, editing, and publishing.

(20%) - Weekly email or other pieces of writing that need to be A+

About You

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Must have a demonstrated history of A+ writing, ideally in major real estate/startup/tech/finance publications.
  • You want to work in person daily with a killer team and get after it.
  • Interest and capability in photography a major plus.
  • You're willing to travel as needed (25%-50%)
  • You can run things on your own, work independently.

What We Offer

  • Fun, ambitious, humble team with the opportunity to build something big.
  • $60,000-$90,000+/year depending on experience.
  • Company-wide revenue share.
  • In-person OTR office.
  • Health insurance.
