Description:

The General Manager is an essential leadership position where the successful candidate will lead all aspects of the Durham, NC facility that is focused on the production of copper, tin, alloyed metal powders and brazing materials used for automotive, electronics, construction, and industrial applications. This is a high impact role with significant career growth potential including progression into senior leadership positions within Kymera. This position is responsible for production operations and P&L management in support of Kymera's commercial and product strategy. This includes EHS, operations, maintenance, production planning, capital project deployment, engineering and plant culture.

Our products and services are used in Commercial & Military Aircraft, Navy Ships, Automobiles, Orthopedic Implants, Advanced Electronic Components, Building & Construction Materials, Critical Chemical Production, Green Hydrogen Production, and 3D Printing.

  • Drive ownership and accountability across all levels of the organization to enable a proactive safely and environmental culture across the entire facility.
  • Lead the day-to-day operational and business process execution for facility including production and shipments of copper, bronze, brass, tin, bismuth, and antimony special metal powder and paste production.
  • The site is a 24/7 production operation and comprehensive engagement and leadership must be demonstrated across all shifts and departments.
  • The successful candidate must collaborate across all functions to achieve Kymera's EHS, customer satisfaction and profitability targets. This includes close coordination of internal and corporate sales, technical and accounting teams to ensure the goals and objectives of the organization are met.
  • Drive site business performance through standardized KPI’s to meet evolving customer demand in both high volume and specialty markets.
  • Manage plant maintenance to ensure reliable operations which includes the deployment of capital projects and CI initiatives to increase process reliability, increase product quality, improve product yields.
  • Oversee planning, production, logistics and quality to ensure timely delivery of products to customers within targeted customer lead times.
  • Develop and execute corrective and improvement actions to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Drive overall product, cost, and price optimization to improve overall facility value add.
  • Lead the team to achieve business goals through clear communication of responsibilities, expectations and objectives, and development of individual and group competencies.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of assigned direct reports comprising of 4-6 individual department managers including EHS, quality, planning, operations, logistics, maintenance.
  • Matrix supervision of site finance and human resource leaders.
  • Responsible for hiring, promotion, performance review/management across the production facility.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operational management, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years progressive manufacturing management experience; minimum 5 years in a senior level role preferably with direct P&L experience. Prior experience as a General Manager in a melt or powdered metal operation is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in metals, materials, metallurgical melting, metal or powder paniculate processing, and/or chemical industries.
  • Sales or technical experience with the materials industry.
  • Experience with financial and working capital forecasting based on monthly production, invoicing, and shifts in product mix.
  • Demonstrated experience with business systems and software including ERP, project management, scheduling, and predictive tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster internal collaboration and direct communication with customer partners.
  • Highly developed communication, negotiation, and problem resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of managing financial objectives and targets within a technically oriented business.
