Job Responsibilities
The Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Program Manager provides statewide leadership and oversight for Georgia's system supporting infants and young children who are deaf or hard of hearing. This position ensures effective newborn hearing screening follow-up, high-quality data reporting, strong interagency partnerships, and compliance with state and federal requirements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (overall tasks and expectations of the position):
  • Provide leadership, management, and strategic direction for the statewide EHDI Program.
  • Oversee EHDI operations, including newborn hearing screening follow-up, diagnostic coordination, and early intervention referrals.
  • Oversee audiology components of the statewide congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV) testing and follow-up process, in collaboration with the Newborn Screening Program Manager.
  • Work collaboratively with the Child Health Audiologist on loss-to-documentation follow-up, provider technical assistance, and training for public health staff.
  • Ensure high-quality data collection, reporting, and analysis, including required federal grant submissions.
  • Lead quality assurance/quality improvement initiatives across hospitals, audiology providers, and public health districts.
  • Manage program grants, contracts, and funding allocations and ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Lead cross-agency collaboration on early language and literacy outcomes and coordinate the annual report required under O.C.G.A. § 30-1-5.
  • Develop and update EHDI policies, procedures, and communication materials.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with hospitals, pediatric providers, early intervention programs, education agencies, and family support organizations.
  • Represent the program at state and national meetings, workgroups, and collaborations as deemed necessary.
  • Responsible for supervision of staff.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field which includes five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory role;
or
Nine (9) years of related professional experience which includes five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory role;
or
Five (5) years of experience required at the lower level Sr Mgr, Business Ops (GSM012) or position equivalent.

Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate of Audiology (AuD)
  • Experience with newborn hearing screening and pediatric audiology
  • Public health or program management experience, including data reporting and quality improvement
  • Experience collaborating with hospitals, audiology providers, and child-serving agencies, with strong skills in data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and interagency coordination.
